We just bought a home in the gated community and have owned a property here in the past. Our in-laws have lived in the gated community for a over a year now and are very happy. We are transplants from the bay area and own million dollar homes. What you get in Chowchilla without the the crime, drugs, homeless and traffic that abounds in every corner of the bay, it's a privilege to live in this nice town. To find a country home on a gated community with a golf course on a lake and to be 15 mins from all shopping runs you in the millions. We are happy to call Chowchilla home

I have lived in Chowchilla most of my life and attended school here. There are two state prisons that employee a lot of the locals, and a big farming community. You have to commute 20-45 minutes to a more populated City for work. Its is predominately Caucasian and Hispanic. The town is split into the old side and the new side of town. The older is ran down while the new side of town is in a gate community and surrounds a gold course. Actually a nice area but over priced homes. There is a taco bell/KFC, Jack-N-Box, McDonalds, Carls Jr, Starbucks, a restaurant/bar at the Golf Course and a Mexican restaurant.. There is very little for teenagers to do. There is a big drug and theft problem for its size and the homeless population is growing. The police try to stay involved but it is a low income town and not a lot of City funds, so little they can do to improve. Chowchilla will be a good fit if you live the country life and have farm animals to keep you busy.
To be honest chowchilla has a large amount of crime and i really want that the community join hands and combat the crime that has been going on in the community. Also, at the Chowchilla Union High School there are students who appear to discriminate against other students. All students have to know that we are all the same and that discrimination is a bad thing and that it has to end.
