I grew up in this town and moved back after being away for 20 years. The things I remember fondly are of the places I used to go growing up. For the most part, they are still around.
My family would go for bike rides and go boating during the summer on weekends with my aunts, uncles, and cousins. We would stay at each other’s houses and play rummy until dawn.
What I least like about this place is the prevalence of drugs. I know that every town has them. It just breaks my heart that as a society there are individuals where money means more than family. I don’t know where I would be without my family other than completely lost. I wish those pushing the drugs would think of the people they are selling to as family. Then maybe they wouldn’t do it anymore.
I am only giving 4 stars is due to the fact that CF is my hometown. The surrounding area is beautiful summer and winter. The city itself is charming but on the CON side it is the mentality of its residences. They are very closed-mind people. Not saying they are bigots but if they got out of their "bubble" and explore the world they would see and experience more cultures. I moved away in 1974 and I never looked back. Would I return? I am thinking about retiring back in the Chippewa Valley but I have reservations. I do visit several times a year but I still see the bigots are still alive and well in CF.
