Great school district! Lots of parks and walking trails. Overall a nice, quiet community. There are great markets all summer long and small businesses in town. Not a lot to do in the winter though. There are a lot of different restaurants throughout town.
Chesterton is a wonderful tight knit community. A great place to raise a family. I, like so many others, are from Chicago originally. The only thing is I wish they had a bit more to do. Valparaiso really did a great job developing their town. I wish Chesterton would follow but I was told the local government will not allow. Being a couple mile from the lakeshore and near beautiful forests, trails is the best for those who treasure the outdoors. If you have young children and love the outdoors I would live here any day over Chicago. It really is a dream life for a family. And also, the cost of living is half the price of Chicago. The quality of life is amazing .
The town is a quaint place, with a great community! The local farmers’ markets are a lovely place to go on Saturdays, and the Indiana Dunes is right next door!
