No stoplight in town! I moved up here as a travel nursing assistant at the local hospital and ended up falling in love with it. And that was in the winter! The summer is probably a lot of fun up here. Seeing the leaves change and having a snowy Thanksgiving and winter hikes on Mt. Lassen was wonderful. Loved it while I lived here. Leaving next week sadly :(
Chester is a friendly, small town that has seen better days. In the 80s and 90s it was a popular stop for tourists visiting the Sierras, but now unfortunately there are not many tourists and a lot of businesses have been impacted by that. The town and surrounding areas are still great places to visit, with beautiful scenery and lots of outdoor opportunities. I would not recommend living here however unless you are retired or don't have a family, as open jobs are not common and the local economy has seen better days.
Beautiful place and near to lake but population consists of retired people and families with young kids.
