No stoplight in town! I moved up here as a travel nursing assistant at the local hospital and ended up falling in love with it. And that was in the winter! The summer is probably a lot of fun up here. Seeing the leaves change and having a snowy Thanksgiving and winter hikes on Mt. Lassen was wonderful. Loved it while I lived here. Leaving next week sadly :(

Chester is a friendly, small town that has seen better days. In the 80s and 90s it was a popular stop for tourists visiting the Sierras, but now unfortunately there are not many tourists and a lot of businesses have been impacted by that. The town and surrounding areas are still great places to visit, with beautiful scenery and lots of outdoor opportunities. I would not recommend living here however unless you are retired or don't have a family, as open jobs are not common and the local economy has seen better days.
The overall experience in Chester California is quaint. It is a peaceful town and gives you a moment to reflect on yourself. Surrounded by beautiful mountains full of wildlife that anyone would love to see. You could go hiking, biking, swimming in the lake that is nearby, and also you can go to the town for a little enjoyment. You are not only surrounded by wildlife but by the friendly people that live in the town. Come on over during the 4th of July when there is a parade and fireworks that you can see from across the lake.
