I enjoy living in Chester to a great extent. The people are nice and generally strangers here are generally more courteous than that of my old town. In addition to that the type of people that are in Chester range from the rich to the middle class which creates a nice mixing and just generally a wide range of people. However, when it comes to strictly the people that live here there is laughable amount of diversity in the town. Granted the workers that keep the local shops running are of different cultures and backgrounds and the occasional resident is as well; besides that there is very little diversity. In my old town Monroe, New York I went to school with a lot of people that looked different than me, Asian, Caucasian, African American, Mexican etc.. However I never realized how diverse it was until I went to school here where the vast majority of the students are Caucasian. It is this factor that I consider to be this amazing town's Achilles heel.
Great school system; teachers are very good, many activities to participate. Safe town, no crime. Besides being very charming historical town, it has many farms nearby; a great place to raise kids. Easy transportation to New York from Morristown. Also many social and cultural activities in and around Chester
A great town with a great community of people. Lots of parents volunteer to help with kid sports/clubs/scouts. Great downtown - small town historic Americana. Annual events like Craft Fairs and Peach Festival are generational favorites.
Great schools.
