Businesses are so diverse. No need to head to the "big city". Unique shopping experience from furniture to men and women's fashion. Gifts, consignment shops, Cherokee general store and the book vine. Dining wow the Monterrey and the gausthaus. You will enjoy. We have a symphony. The first planetarium in the state. Check out the Sanford. Exciting new businesses are opening . Healthcare top notch. Service business are family owned and they know how to take care of our needs.
I love the employment in my town because most places are allowing people to work from age 14 or 16. Meaning almost anyone is eligable for a job. Most people work at the Warehouse, or for the city. We have a lot of City workers because we want to make sure our town is the best it can possibly be. The top employers I would think are HyVee Warehouse, previously Tyson's, and the Sanford Museum and Planitarium. Our museum was the first in Iowa to have a planetarium. Also we have the most complete ground sloth pelvis in the United States, and that business attracts over 25,000 people a year!
The local businesses are wonderful. There are numerous clothing stores for women, men, and stores for both women and men. There are many bars, many nice restaruants with great service! The thing I enjoy about the local businesses in Cherokee, are that since we are a town of 5,000 people, everyone knows everyone or their family. Everyone is very polite to one another and our town is more of a big family. There are many places to find jobs, and volunteer work.
