Overall it is a good town with friendly people. I have lived here my entire life. Growing up it was a small town but it is rapidly growing. At the end of the day the community is a family, including some bickering. However despite our differences we band together when needed. It's got the small town appeal with several local small businesses. Like every town though it is experiencing growing pains in this transition.
Ive lived here about 1 year. Its a very quiet community, low crime, homes are somewhat expensive. Seems to have very minimal diversity here but everyone seems to mind their own business. Excellent schools. I gave it a 4 because it is in the middle of nowhere, the commute it horrible on hwy 280. It takes about 1 hour to go anywhere near birmingham.
Cheslea is a wonderful place for families. The school system is highly ranked, and there are many parks geared toward students and children. The restaurant scene has greatly improved in the last decade. There is not much to do at night, you would have to drive to Birmingham for events. Apart from retail, teaching, and food service jobs, most career opportunities are in Birmingham.
