One of the worst cities I have ever lived in. One of the poorest nightlife scenes I have ever seen. For comparison, Lowell, MA a suburban city of 100K has a more sprawling nightlife scene, even with Boston only 40 minutes away. The city is home to some of the worst people I have ever met. The public transportation is an absolute joke. You will wait 60-90 minutes routinely on weekend routes even with a schedule in hand, and that is for the bus 9 route, one of the most popular routes. If you wanted to buy a snack and soda waiting for the bus, you’d have to walk over a mile from the main bus station, absolutely unacceptable for a “city”. I love my job here but I left because of how terrible the night scene is. If you are under 40 and looking to move, please avoid the most boring city in the world, I would have loved to.
This city lacks character, identity and culture. It's clean and fairly safe. It has decent restaurants, most of which do not offer authentic cuisines. If your coming from a small center you may think Charlotte to be a great city but if you have lived in large metro such as I have you will be in for a shocker.
So many 5 star reviews??? How??? There’s too many killings In Charlotte. Very high active crime rate and the audacity to pay ARMED security officers 10 to 12 dollars an hour!!! Not much full time opportunity for security
There{s nothing to do here. However, there is a lot of space if you want to live in a rural area. The school districts are ridiculously poor. The highest rated school in CMS constantly cheats. My nearest high school is very far away. My middle school district, Southwest, is very poor. The cafeteria lunch lines are so long that lunch ends by the time people sit down. Many of the teachers do not teach and pick favorites to the point where they allow bullying based on high how grades are. Fights break out a lot. Homophobia is rampaging. The nurse always sends students back to their class, telling them they are not really sick. The staff openly talks about about their colleagues to their students. One student left the classroom alone to yell at a teacher and accused them of being a liar. The cafeteria food is horrible and costs too much. When we first moved here, the water was yellow. Charlotte has one of the highest problems with the environment. There is the most iron in the water.
not enough diversity. gentrification. segregated communities and schools. no value for education or equal opportunities. the elite control the big corporations and its very republican. bias. racism. not happy in this state. little to no access to healthier foods and affordability. not enough jobs.
Charlotte is one of the most boring cities in America. There is nothing to do and it is only getting worse with all of the developers buying out and demolishing small family-owned places and places that would give the city charm and culture in favor of new apartment complexes and chain restaurants. It is overcrowded and crime is very bad. I have lived here for 6 years and have watched it get exponentially worse each year. I do not even feel safe at the malls anymore. The schools are horrible and overcrowded.
I cannot possibly believe any of the positive reviews Ive read. FALSE. I moved here from Florida in the Summer for peace and quiet and to find a job and cost of living circumstances. CHARLOTTE IS NOT THE ANSWER, IT IS THE WRONG ANSWER. I AM SCRAMBLING to get the heck out, away, far away, from ANY OF THE SUBURBS SURROUNDING THIS PLACE. Good luck finding a job, you will NEVER EVER be able to drive to it. DRIVE AT YOUR OWN RISK, AND PLEASE WEAR YOUR SEAT BELT AT ALL TIMES. I will never understand the draw to this place, as long as I live. I just cannot wait to move as far as I can away from this area, and forget I made this mistake, again think again, and do your homework when choosing a place to live, and NEVER take advice from your realtor. Good Luck.
it's based on economics noone really cares about families. The housing is unaffordable if your a middle class income household. They continue to build for the wealthy. It very conservative but they try to push that they are progressive. The restaurants and stores are plentiful. The public transit is a nightmare. The schools are hit or miss depending on the district. There is alot of subliminal racism.
alright place . weather nice. ppl snooty 4 being in a southern state. seems a bit too average and normal 4 an American city.
Not a variety of things to do. The town doesn't hold many options for family activities or just any activities other than night clubs or bars. There are not many friendly people. Very hot and humid, feels like there is only two seasons. No winter, or snow.
