I am a 17 year old Hispanic female that lives in Channelview, TX. I moved here mid year of 2017 and I'm still currently living here. Ever since I've lived here I've felt welcomed by the schools and also the neighbors themselves. What I have enjoyed the most these past years is the parades that happens for the schools, and the community. I feel like this brings are community closer and creates our culture. I wouldn't want to change anything from my neighborhood in all honestly because not every neighborhood is perfect and I believe that the "flaws" it can have is what makes it perfect.
Compared to most neighborhoods, Channelview is a relatively safe place to live for both friends and family. The main drawback I've noticed about the area is the occasional flooding that occurs even when there has been very little rainfall. The drainage systems across the greater Houston area have become problematic over the years and Channelview could be used as a sample for research for the improvement of the the infrastructure of the local areas.
The city of Channelview has expanded greatly since 1998 (when my family and I moved to Channelview). It is a small city with great public schools and shopping centers nearby. The commute to the heart of Houston is about 30 minutes (one-way trip). Aside from those great things, Channelview has poor air quality due to the power plants that are in the area. Overall, very family friendly city.
