Channahon has a great school system and a safe neighborhoods to raise a family. We are on the smaller side, but in my opinion that's a great thing! Everyone is every friendly and kind to one another. We have some great hidden gems in our town, such as a few restaurants and other attractions. It has a good balance between country and modern homes, as well as people. this is a great place to raise a family or to live in general!

Over the years, businesses in my area have come and gone. My town went from being a small community surrounded by cornfields to a moderate-sized city with several gas stations, grocery stores, retail shops, and company warehouses scattered throughout. The local businesses in my area mainly consist of several big company grocery and convenience stores, and there are many hair salons and fast-food options. Most of the bars and restaurants here have outdoor seating available which attracts more customers during warmer months. Additionally, we have a handful of mom-and-pop shops including Chinese cuisine, a diner, many clothing boutiques, and Mexican cuisine. I enjoy the fact that there is a wide range of amenities available and appreciate the combination of corporate and local stores.
There are tons of different food places in my area including fast-food restaurants, sit-in diners, carry-outs, and drive-thrus. The popular nearby restaurants are, of course, McDonald's, Taco Bell, Wendy's, Culver's, and Kentucky Fried Chicken. We also have two Subway's and one Jimmy John's, and both businesses are well-frequented. For the less corporate places, though, we have a couple local Mexican restaurants, Chinese carryout places, a Greek restaurant, and other locally-owned venues. Currently, my favorite place is a restaurant and bar called Dock Rotz where they serve typical bar food, exquisite appetizers, and they offer vegetarian options.
