Lots of drug addicts. Many people do not work or work under the table and live off government programs. Often witness young people using EBT for groceries because they do not work. Many of these people sell their EBT cards for about 50 cents on the dollar.
Minimum wage seems to be the norm for most jobs.
The jail is very large for a community this size.
The city and county government will not allow stores like Kroger which in turn limits competition and prices can be excessive. You can drive about 30-45 minutes depending on where in the Centerville area you live to Dickson or Fairview but prices aren’t always much better.
Housing is inexpensive in comparison to Nashville is a positive. This is the only reason I live in Hickman county.
There are some good people here but be very cautious, many are wolves in sheep’s clothing. Living here has been an eye opening experience!

Centerville is a small town, and its a place where everyone knows everyone. Its a homely town with friendly people, and the childhood home to celebrity Minnie Pearl. I believe its a quaint place to live, despite its small population. There are nice shops around the small Centerville Town square, and I would personally love to see more of these in the future. However, some find it difficult to open a business here due to the high rent rates imposed by landowners who live closer to the city, even before the current market prices. Overall, I find it a peaceful place to live, but it takes a resilient person to stay.
Centerville is a rural neighborhood that is about sixty miles southwest of Nashville. It is a very small but tight-knit community. Centerville is unique and a comfortable place to live. There is plenty of space to roam. Centerville also has an abundance of beautiful hiking places. It is one town in Tennessee that still has a rustic feel while also being relevant to the time. Everyone in the city is very well-mannered and kind to others. There is no such thing as a stranger in Centerville because everyone knows everyone. It is a very welcoming community. Everyone is treated like family around here.
