If you are white, Christian, upper middle class, straight and happy to look the other way re: bullying, harassment, discrimination, etc, Cedarburg might be a perfect fit for you. Yes, it is a very cute, Norman Rockwell-esque setting, but it’s more Stepford Wives in reality. Very clique-y and status driven- except everyone wants the same things as everyone else, just “better.” If you don’t fit, expect to be ignored/excluded- if you have kids and they attend the schools, expect worse and know that their struggles will be ignored by staff and leadership.
The pretty picture painted of this community goes no deeper than the surface and that is exactly how folks like it here. Sure, the shops and restaurants and festivals are nice for an occasional visit, but know that the veneer will wear quickly after you spend enough time in this picture perfect town.

Moved here last year. Best decision! It's like living in Mayberry and a Hallmark Movie rolled into one. My children love the schools. I love the shopping. Quiet and safe. No political signs everywhere. People mind their own business and say, 'Hi!" Very dog-friendly. I lived on the Northshore for 20 years. No comparison to the charm Cedarburg has.
The thing I love about Cedarburg is that it is a very tightly knit community. Most people know each other and are willing to help out. The city is fairly small making it really nice for when I was younger. It was easy to traverse on foot and with bikes. This got me out and probably is part of the reason I feel close with the community. Throughout the year there are many festivals and events that keep me busy. These include things like county fair, Oktoberfest, and strawberry fest. My only gripes are mainly just some neighbours that call the police for the smallest of issues. This is bound to be the case I feel like so it is whatever. Overall I would say that Cedarburg is a very friendly community with a lot of things to check out.
