It's a great place to live with plenty of people around. The largest problems stem from the constant construction projects that take too long while simple jobs get sidelined. Having UNI in town attracts many college students which provides many opportunities for higher education. There are plenty of places to go out to eat but the day to day entertainment department is somewhat lackluster. The city has many festivities and events going on year round that anyone can attend,
While a former student at Cedar Falls Highschool, I feel that my experience has been shockingly horrific. My experince leads me to believe that small town students prioritze antagonizing others life's for their own benefit of greed. When I was a sophmore, I got jumped. When I say jumped I am talking; choked, punched, kicked in the head numerous times, and overall brutually attacked. All while I did nothing other than try to excape. Surrounded by 50+ other teenagers whom I was friends with, nobody helped. Law enforcement got involved and still 5 months later I do not feel safe at Cedar Falls Highschool. Through continuse bullying and harrasing reports, I have found that many parents and staff at Cedar Falls care more about winning in sports events. Elementary through middle school is excellent in Cedar Falls. As soon as a teen hits highschool, it goes downhill. Not all experenices are bad though, I have found peace sticking to the ones I love and adore the environment of Cedar Falls.
It is obviously a college town. Even though it is the University of Northern Iowa I think over time it has grown out of it to become a town in itself. There are a lot of small businesses which are really nice. Whether they are on college hill, downtown, farmers market, or anywhere else I am never disappointed.
