The school is a good school that encourages kids to read very often. I've previously paid for private school and the education here is comparable! The area is not diverse at all! The school has 1 African American child. I've lived here for two years and people still ask me if I live here in town, because of my race. There is one bar, that doesn't serve food. The popular restaurants are mediocre at best. Though the crime rate is practically non existent, my bike has been stolen from my deck and later returned ( by being thrown in a bush a couple doors down). This is a perfectly peaceful weekend getaway, as it is beautiful and peaceful. However it is not the best place for ethnic families to raise their children.
There's something magical when your sitting on the warm sand and starring off into the glimmering ocean. Or at night when your laying in bed and the only noise you hear out your window are the waves crashing alongside the buoy faint ringing. The best time of year is on the winter after all the loud vacation mode tourist have gone back home. Its one of the safest peaceful towns that supports local business and good ethics.
Cayucos is a great sleepy little town. Locals look out for each other and the school is great. Typical summer months, June - August, can be foggy and some call it the "June Gloom." The best weather is usually October through mid-December with mostly sunny days.
