Pros: Clean, quiet, less populated than the city, abundant hiking paths, wildlife, strong sense of safety, strong school ratings, small-town feel, good terrain for mountain and road bikers.
Cons: Takes at least ten minutes to get anywhere by car, hiking paths frequently too muddy for use (winter & spring), highly homogeneous community, very hilly -- difficult to walk and bike, lots of political controversy in the schools, very conservative and controlled by HOA and city municipality, lacks some of the basics -- car wash, gym, breakfast establishments, ice cream shop, etc.

Castle Pines needs more shops and local restaurants. Rents are very high which keeps businesses away. Many retail establishments that have been closed have never been replaced. There is a large Safeway grocery store that closed 5 plus years ago. It is still empty, which looks bad. There is only one area with retail and restaurants for a very large community. The schools are wonderful and the area is beautiful. There are trails for biking and hiking throughout the community.
Overall good experience, however, the construction on roads and other similar activities take a long time to finish and usually leave the area worse off then it started. Also wish there was a gym in the area!
