Carthage is a very safe, family friendly community. There is some diversity, the people here are generally quite nice, and the school is large and has the best football team in the state for their size. However, the school is very focused around their football team and athletics, so sometimes it can seem like academics take a back-burner priority. There is a low crime rate, and the local police are friendly and neighborly, but the real estate market has terribly inflated prices and it can be a bit difficult to find a good place to live, especially on a budget.
If you love the small town feel, Carthage is the place for you! Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. They have a phenomenal football team that brings a lot of excitement to the town.
I would like more growth. This is a small town with little to do. Most people go out of town for work or to have fun. I would like to see new businesses in the area with new job opportunities. There is very little to do here for children. We have one skating rink and a small park for children which leaves very few options for family and youth. We do not have any stores that stay open 24 hours so if something is needed, a person must drive out of town.
