Schools are not very good, but they're some of the best public schools as compared to other surrounding areas. It's good for raising a family, a good small town, but has far to go. Growth is hindered by people who want things to stay a certain way or are afraid of "riff-raff" entering in. However, it's a very safe and peaceful place, and for the most part people are friendly. Good place, but if you have the option of moving to a different state or area within the state, look into that first. If you're going to be stuck in this area, then I recommend!

Carthage nc is your typical small highway town. Always has transfer trucks including smelly chicken trucks coming and going between the plant and the farms. There is no activities to do, besides sit at the gas station and talk with friends. There is very little youth here and the ones that are around all seem to have a criminal record. It is very hard to live healthy and be active here because of all the big roads. It is farm country that was intersected by us hw 15/501 , and 24. Closest entertainment id 50 min away min.
In my neighborhood the cops drive through three times a day. Do not let this scare you, we never have breakins or other safety concerns thanks to the large police presence. Our schools even have their own police force. This makes sure that there are individuals at every school ready to protect the students. The neighboring town, Pinehurst, was even voted at the safest place to live North Carolina.
