Carthage is a great town to raise a family in. The school districts are beyond awesome, the crime rates are fairly low compared to other towns, and it's a very family orientated town. They also have a great Maple Leaf Festival in October! And physically it's a gorgeous place, thousands of Maple Trees everywhere, an amazing courthouse, and such beautiful Victorian homes; like The Phelps House.

I've lived in Carthage for over ten years now and I can tell you, it keeps it's charm. From the festivals in the summer and fall to the community of artists, there's no town like it!
Pros:
• Relatively close to larger cities, within a day trip
• Small town feel and community
• Stunning, beautiful autumns
• Large Latinex / Mexican culture
• Perfect town to stroll the sidewalk in
• Beautiful, old Victorian homes
• Historic, beautiful square and courthouse
• A selection of great restaurants and a great coffee shop for a town this small
• Endless backroads to go day cruising on
• Quirky festivals such as Maple Leaf and Marian Days
• SUPER SAFE

Cons:
• Conservative, almost dogmatic in how strongly opinionated and close minded people are
• Winters are long, hard, and cold
• Racial tension
