I very nice but small community. The city itself is charming with so many opportunities to explore the Shawnee National Forest surrounding the area. There is an abundance of places to visit in the forest including lakes, trails, cliffs, waterfalls, etc. all over the region so much so that it would take a lifetime to see every one! Besides that the people are generally kind and I've met some of the most important people in my life here.

Carbondale is a really small town, but with a lot of pizzazz, The University here is one of the most comfortable and beautiful ones I have ever been to. The campus is smack-dab in a forested area where white-tailed deer tend to hang out. With that there are a lot of great hiking experience to be had in Carbondale, IL. Just a short jog from Carbondale, you will find the giant city trails and even further you can hike at Shawnee!
I love Carbondale! It has an amazing small town vibe with amazing outdoor experiences to offer. There are endless amounts of hiking trails, lakes to kayak or boat, mountain bike trails, and cliffs to repel or rock climb. There is also a fun nightlife available for those who like a cocktail or beer!
