Idyllic, but soooooo expensive.
Lots of 'stuff' to see and do in this area...travel thru to, say, Silicon Valley or San Jose a bit tricky as the roads are beautiful yet winding often with minimal sight distance. But you shouldn't be tearing around so crazy anyway..,the place is definitely someplace to be seen before you croak...maybe on this very roads!

Capitola is a friendly and diverse beach community but due to it being within close perimeters of Santa Cruz, the traffic is frequently congested which is quite frustrating for locals. Due to its high pricing in both real estate and high end businesses, it is difficult for those who work locally to manage their living wages when considering how expensive it is to live here. A lot of the real estate is bought out by families living in San Jose and Silicon Valleys as vacation homes and rentals for profit, which has frustrated locals who struggle to get by but want a future for their families and for themselves. Yet despite this persisting issue, Capitola is a gorgeous location and welcoming environment that I am grateful to have been raised in.
The trestle is an amazing location to look over the ocean and watch the waves roll. If you travel across it, you can sit on the edge of a sandy, residential patht that gives way to a magnificent, floral-edged view. Capitola is a wonderful mix of Suburban strip malls and vacation locales. You can visit the Capitola mall (which is honestly quite disappointing), or take a walk through the village, which is lined with overpriced swimsuit shops and ice cream places they keep renaming. Would recommend.
