Canastota is great little town to raise a family close most things and major cities and beaches. A quiet safe place for kids to grow up. They can go to the park and not worry, they go for a bike ride or just a walk in the neighborhood and they are safe. Schools are great, they have a great athletic department.

The tenants in the area are not the best, recently there was a drug bust across the street from my house. This I feel has more to do with the owners of the rental properties not being selective enough or responsible for the people they are renting to, all they care about is that they get rent money. Other than this the area seems to be relatively safe. Police seem to be everywhere but whenever you call them they are very slow to respond.
The small businesses in the area are wonderful! They all have a welcoming atmosphere and flourish. The local businesses are much better than the chains in the area. Places like Albanese's shoe store, and Dunn's donut shop, and Textures hair salon make the town whole.
