We moved here in 2017 are very happy with our move here with just a few exceptions. None of us (4 adult family members) found work on this side of the river, and after almost two years here none of us have been able to buy houses/condos...we’re close, but our budgets (low to mid threes) seem to fall just below what’s available IN Camas. And as we moved here partly for schools we need to stay in Camas. We’d anticipated working in WA (thereby saving on taxes) and that plus commute costs have stymied our home-buying attempts. We love the feel of the town though, all the walking trails, cute downtown with frequent activities, the more modern 192nd commercial area for ease of use. I won’t wish a market dip on the rest of you, so I’m working on getting my Portland employer to allow me to work from home....maybe THEN I can afford a house (or cute condo with a view :-) on my (barely) 6 figure income? Lord knows that wasn’t going to happen in CA!

I love my home town for many reasons, most being how close our community is. I have been a resident in Camas for many years, enjoying the schools, parks, and businesses. Growing up in a small town makes you have strong feelings of belonging. I have a son, who I plan to raise in my home town to ensure he has a great upbringing. The town of Camas is a suburb in Washington but it is also know for may large companies. Many of the companies supply jobs to the locals and create a large amount of payback. We're just down from the Gorge of the Columbia River, and have an amazing lookouts. Hiking is popular, along with water sports, and many other outdoor activities. If you ever find yourself in our humble little town, I recommend a movie at the Liberty Theater. You can even catch a high school football game at the stadium, and I'm sure you'd see my whole family there. This city is the perfect example of what home really feels like!
The city of Camas is corrupt, when first looking at it, people seem to be friendly, happy, and safe. However, the corruption doesn't lie in the city itself, rather it lies on the School district and city government. As a student of Camas, most of the issues lie on the School itself. For example drugs in the school are easy to access, and vaping has become a widespread problem (nationally). Its gotten to the point that students joke about the issue (most I find personally funny), "Why are there toilets in the Juulroom (bathroom)?" Also, Camas fails to address the problems with its budget spending it on ridiculous things such as free t-shirts, pointless assemblies, useless classes, and the overpaying of staff. 80% of the Camas budget goes toward teachers who just only care about the money, and on top of it, some teachers even spread liberal propaganda towards students. Because I am running out of characters on this review I am open to questions.
