We moved here in 2017 are very happy with our move here with just a few exceptions. None of us (4 adult family members) found work on this side of the river, and after almost two years here none of us have been able to buy houses/condos...we’re close, but our budgets (low to mid threes) seem to fall just below what’s available IN Camas. And as we moved here partly for schools we need to stay in Camas. We’d anticipated working in WA (thereby saving on taxes) and that plus commute costs have stymied our home-buying attempts. We love the feel of the town though, all the walking trails, cute downtown with frequent activities, the more modern 192nd commercial area for ease of use. I won’t wish a market dip on the rest of you, so I’m working on getting my Portland employer to allow me to work from home....maybe THEN I can afford a house (or cute condo with a view :-) on my (barely) 6 figure income? Lord knows that wasn’t going to happen in CA!

Camas is a small town, albeit a rapidly expanding one, with a sense of family and community that is hard to find elsewhere. We love our First Fridays, Camas football games where we gossip and show our Camas Pride, and the small businesses that keep our town diverse and fun. I have lived here almost my whole life, and I can firmly say that the schools, neighborhoods, and overall community are a treasure. While housing is expensive and there is constantly construction on some part of Camas, these are worth living with for all that is positive in Camas. I must say, I disagree with the review claiming that Camas is corrupt. There are of course some people who don't get along with others, but that is an unavoidable matter. The presence of vaping and drugs is almost none. I personally know the mayor and his family, and there is nothing corrupt about them and their goals. Please come join or visit our community. We would love to have you:)
Fantastic place to raise a family! Population is steadily growing, new opportunities arising, construction adding new jobs and places to live and shop.
