California City CA is a wonderful place with great opportunities to own or rent a apt/home. In no time short with its growth rate and diversity, I can see it easily becoming the next Temecula or Menifee, even like Moreno Valley or what it's like in the Bixby Knolls area of long beach. Very Family Friendly environment with a helpful and kind community.

It doesn't have lot of options when choosing your schools. It is not considered very safe to live there because of the closeness from the prison and the crime rate is pretty high. There is absolutely no nightlife in the town! no bars, no clubs. It is not very family friendly as there are no places to go see or visit. Cost of living is a huge plus as the housing is very affordable and easy to find homes. Commute time to job is pretty rough since there are no companies near by.
The place is great, very quiet and relaxing, you find what you need, great nature scenery, the people are friendly. Good place to escape the overprice Bay Area and its backstabbing citizens. Good conections to L.A., Bakersfield , Las Vegas, you get my drift, good place to take a break from the the every day B.S. from other places.
