Cairo is a small agricultural town in the heart of the Hudson Valley, in the Catskill Mountains. It's about a ten minute drive from the Hudson River, thirty minutes south of Albany and thirty minutes north of Kingston. Everyone knows everyone and we are community-based.
The high school holds yearly spaghetti dinners for Veteran's Day, there are many different school sports for students, and there's plenty of summer activities. There's a summer rec program held by the elementary school in the park and the little league preps their baseball players for the big league.
As everyone knows, just about every high school student starts working at the McDonald's on Route 23 (which cuts right through the town), Hannaford Supermarket on Main Street, or in what used to be Slater's Smart Shop on Route 32. Like I said, small town.

Cairo is a small town, but I'm the type of person who loves small towns. You get to know everyone and in the towns around you as well. This little town is where I grew up to be the person I am today and I'm very grateful for that. Things that I would like to see change is the amount of jobs within the town. And hopefully more things to go into the town.
Small town with enormous potential but run down. Not enough things to do or services available. Little to know shopping locally.
