The best place to go anywhere else! York nests right between two major highways, Interestate 83 and US Route 30. I found this out especially as I noticed, during the early 2010's, that concerts out-of-state were far easier and closer to get to than locations in-state. The night life and entertainment comparisons are stark when you look at the nearby cities of Harrisburg, Hershey, Lancaster, and even Baltimore, all within 1 hour from York.
Our educational system is severely lacking with all city schools undercut and undersupplied. Local police stations have made names for themselves and are symbolically meme-ified as jokes of institutions or for their style of police tactics.
As long as you don't glance to hard at York, things might look ok, but the moment that you stare a little too long or scratch the surface, you reveal the horrid rust that rots the machine that would otherwise help most citizens in York.

I have been around York County for years. There isn’t really a whole lot to do. The roads are littered with potholes and some merge ramps on I-83 are dangerously designed, but it looks like they are starting to address this now. There are some people with abnormally extreme political views, but there are also some very smart people you can’t count out. Some sections in the city are not very safe, but downtown York is nice. Some sections of the county are very yee-haw. Fall colors are nice. Houses are cheap. Gas is noticeably more expensive than other areas of US. Most schools are pretty good, and there are good athletic programs here too. I think most would agree though that York County is not their favorite place on earth.
Growing up here was always pleasant. I liked how in middle school you can choose where you would like to go for high School, I chose York Tech. The one thing I would like to see across the board for all schools in this county is Life skills. A class like home economics where students can learn how to cook a balanced meals, how to repair clothing, learn how to handle money and how to do taxes, and more. I would like to see a student hub where student can go and get extra help on their studys, preparing them for real life or college paths, where students get mentored and guidances by both staff and their peers.
