The crime rate in Salisbury is getting steadily worse. Sheriff Mike Lewis is a great law enforcement officer, as he vows never to confiscate the firearms of the residents of his county. I attend Salisbury University, and could not be happier with my choice. I feel as if they have an outstanding music department and am very grateful that my vocal performance professor is Dr. John Wesley Wright. Dr. Wright has given me so much more confidence in my vocal abilities! I double major in vocal performance, as well as music education. I have never been happier in my life! Unfortunately, the job market on the Eastern Shore leaves much to be desired.
The area is very small and can quickly become secluded when leaving city limits (which happens very fast). There is not really many things for youth to go enjoy in the area, but there are definitely some cool restaurants. Neat how close it is to the beach (half hour or so from Ocean City, MD) and how accessible some major cities on the Northern East Coast are--places like Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C. are only a matter of a few hours drive from here. You get to experience the full range of seasons here also. Great area for creative people that enjoy finding things outdoors to do.
I have noticed in this area people stay around for along time, a lot of people come from different areas.
Most people stay for many years , with the tourist area in Ocean City many seasonal jobs in that area.
We have two Universities in this area, lots of the students end up staying here after they graduate.
Salisbury has a local zoo and a walking trail through it , across from the street from the zoo is a dog park where dogs can run off the lease.
In the summer downtown have many festivals for different ethnic groups, and beer and wine festivals later in the fall.
With the festivals it is educational and fun , we have lots of opportunities to learn and have fun at the same time.
