I love this area! There is so much to do and so many incredible places to see. There are countless trails to hike, lakes to swim in and beautiful views to soak in. I am very proud to be from southwest Virginia/northeast Tennessee and wouldn't want to live anywhere else!

One of the biggest attractions in the area is the Abingdon Farmer's Market. The Market meets almost every Saturday throughout the year and most Tuesdays, and offers high-quality, locally produced vegetables, crafts, meats, baked goods, and more. And while the buying options are certainly a major attraction, the Market also simply provides a pleasant place to go to meet with friends on a Saturday morning.
The town of Abingdon, Virginia, is extraordinarily focused on supporting local business owners and preserving its local heritage. While the downside to these two aspects of the town are that there are few, if any, big retail stores within the city limits, the general atmosphere of the town is much improved and made to feel much more like a small, comfortable tourist town. Though it can be a bit slow sometimes, the town of Abingdon has the very special feel of everyone's home.
