I like that St. Mary's has a very close community although the school system has not been the best, as teachers are poorly thought of more than I believe they should. I've personally experienced having a long term sub from the first day of school to the last in pre-calc which made it difficult for me to pursue my successful high school career because the teacher was not qualified and knew no more than we do. There are also teachers who are absent more than students which should never be the case.

I love the area because my college resides there, St. Mary's College of Maryland, but it is a very poor area that only really consists of franchise, corporate and fast food restaurants. I miss the farmer's markets and independently owned shops that my hometown has. I hope that St. MAry's country can evolve to become a place in which people can own their own shops and restaurants and become a closer community. I can see it evolving to become a well know place in which people want to visit and spend time in. Now, nobody does as there is little to see.
What I like about St. marys county is its small town feelings and charm. We all know that feeling of connectivity through the agriculture, good food, and interesting characters. I was born and raised here and it is an amazing place to grow up. There is so many community, family orientated activities available, good schools, and great food places. I would like it to become a little bit more exciting. For example add some more activities/ places for teens to go and hang out.
