Shawnee is a great area (not to be confused with Shawnee County in Topeka, KS). There are several parks and trails for those that enjoy the outdoors. The atmosphere and the residents are relaxed and friendly. This is what makes the Shawnee area great. The schools rank at the top for the state. While the commercial development is progressing all over the state, Shawnee still has that quaint charm. There are hidden gems throughout but you need to look for them.
I have lived in Shawnee for two years now and I love the area. Mostly because of shopping centers and medical help near by. The Shawnee Mission Hospital and health care groups are near by. As well as gyms, grocery stores, post office and restaurants. Residents in Shawnee are also amazing and very friendly. I love living in shawnee.
