Overall, I love where I live. Here and there things get tough and new crimes occur. But honestly, that comes with society. In my opinion each city is progressively getting worse ethnically. Louisiana is primarily conservative, so people are more outspoken about opinions while being semi nice and respectful about it. The food is good and the company is better. I would recommend a new family to live in the country about ten minute out from town so that if they need anything they can get it fast, yet no one will mess with them and it will be peaceful. The wildlife is amazing too.

My mom has been trying to get a new job for a couple of years now. Unfortunately, business owners discriminate against age and even race. Which is surprising because most people believe that racism only pertains to African Americans, but it doesn't necessarily. My mother has been denied a multitude of jobs even though she has a Masters degree and meets nearly all requirements.
Small, local shops are usually better because they aren't too big. Plus, smaller shops make shopping more personal and 'at-home". Where I am from, stores are nice, however, it depends on the area in town. We have multiple Walmarts, McDonalds, and Burger Kings that differ on their location which affect the service and atmosphere.
