I love Putnam County. The location of this county in regards to New York City is amazing. You are close enough that you could decide to hop on the train and be there in 1 hour, but far enough that life isn't so crazy. The nature of this county is beautiful. There are so many hidden jewels and wonders to discover. There are an abundance of hikes that will reveal those wonders. This county is awesome!
I would consider moving here when I retire. I was looking in Westchester. Westchester is overrated, overpriced and too crowded. I wasn’t too fond of the people during my visit there. Cold Spring, Verplank and Brewster seem very serene. Positive vibes.
I grew up in Brewster, New York and it was pretty average. Not much to do besides hang out in parking lots, but still had amazing friends and a decent time. Not the best, but definitely could be worse
