I absolutely love living in Salem Oregon! I have lived here 8 going on 9 years now. We moved here when I was 10 years old and I wouldn't change it for the world. I have met wonderful people who live here and the schools really are wonderful. In Salem Oregon we pride ourselves on our music program. We have really good teachers and students in all of our choirs, orchestras, and bands. This town you might think at first glance is old and boring, but get to know it a bit better and you see the beauty in it. Downtown there are all sorts of little places you might miss in first glance. But look closer, there are some real jewels hidden in there. I also think that compared to lots of places in the world, Salem Oregon is a really safe place to live. Its great for people of all ages really. Young couples looking to start or grow their family, older couples retiring, people in-between. Everyone.

Salem is a pretty safe place to live. Police aren't crawling everywhere, but they are around and they are quick to respond when you need help. I'm not too concerned about crime in this area, but it does happen. Just not as often or as bad as in other areas.
People are great around here. They are courteous drivers and look for pedestrians. It is a pretty open-minded and accepting community. There isn't a lot of violence against race or sexual orientation. People are friendly and cheerful in passing. It's a nice place to live!
