Palm Beach County Reviews
Rating 4.26 out of 5 119 reviews
Florida is a beautiful state due to its stunning beaches and sunshine. With over 1,200 miles of coastline, Florida has something for everyone. From the sandy beaches of the Gulf Coast to the crystalline waters of the Atlantic and so many incredible nature reserves, parks, and islands in between, it's no wonder why Florida has become a paradise for beach lovers. In addition to its stunning beaches, Florida also hosts a variety of activities such as swimming, snorkeling, fishing, kayaking, sailing, and paddle-boarding. Combine this with some of the best amusement parks in the world, a lively entertainment and arts scene, and an abundance of unique museums, and you'll understand why Florida is one of the most popular states in the US.
There is a lot of variety for such a suburban community. Having grown up in this area, I've seen a lot change in 17 years. Mostly though, things have changed for the better. More of the agricultural land where I live gets developed every year, and more restaurants, entertainment, stores, and homes take its place. While I'm glad to have more to experience, it's a little sad to lose such an important part of the culture in western Palm Beach County: farming. I enjoy the diversity that comes with living in such a large municipality. The presence of many different ethnic groups makes for a good learning experience as well as its own mark on the cultural landscape. After all, there aren't many places in this country where you can find authentic Indian food next door to authentic Italian or Mexican as well. Stretching from the beach to the Everglades, there's always plenty to do from mall shopping to bass fishing.
The thing I like about Palm Beach County is the climate. Living on the Atlantic Coast means there is a breeze from the ocean most of the time and it somewhat moderates the sub-tropical climate. Everyday I can pick up my paper at the bottom of the drive in my bare feet. We have a compact airport that is a delight to use. If we need other airports we have Fort Lauderdale one hour away, and Miami International less than two hours away. We have theaters and restaurants galore. There are several high-end shopping malls and Worth Avenue in Palm Beach is blessed with high-end boutiques and restaurants. Traffic is crazy as are many of the drivers. Although there’s a fair number of snowbirds that call PBC ‘home’ in the season, we are a vibrant county all year long, not like the Gulf Coast that become ghost towns in the summer. Palm Beach County is the closest we will get to paradise.
