New Haven County Reviews
Rating 3.9 out of 5 120 reviews
New Haven has lots of good restaurants and many opportunities for cultural experiences and entertainment. Within a 20-30 minute drive there are several farms and orchards and an abundance of places to enjoy the outdoors with activities like hiking. Traffic can be bad at times, but is generally better than areas around other cities in Connecticut. I would like to see improvements in the amount of public transportation options serving New Haven and nearby towns.
I live and breathe for New Haven. It has the charm of a big city with the ease of a little one. Nothing is too expensive, but that’s no to say it’s cheap either. Those that are from here will protect it with their lives and welcome others from all walks of life as long as they agree to the terms of this place. You eat the delicious flat pizza. You shop the local businesses. And you never swim in the Long Island Sound. All jokes aside, this place is a wonderful home and it deserves respect and care just like any other famous historical city.
Great start, not the best finish. The state of CT as a whole is definitely divided up. Over the years, the New Haven County portion of the state has definitely taken a turn for the worse. All in all, a lot of New Haven County has lost its value because of each town's neighborhoods not coming together as a community and each individual towns Public Works departments not actually doing their jobs. For example, for most of my life, I was a resident of West Haven, CT. The downfall of this town? Poor city planning and horrible Public Works. One of the worst experiences I had was bulk pick up, which was few and far between and didn't allow residents to dispose of unwanted items and furniture. Secondly, the city of West Haven hasn't seen a good factory corporation since who knows when, thus not bringing business revenue in for the town. With this example of one specific town, that was at one point a gem, New Haven County gradually declines more and more every year.
