McHenry County is extremely family friendly and offers plenty of diversity for any families planning to move here. It has relatively safe suburban neighborhoods about an hour and a half northwest of Chicago. Depending on the town, the rating of public schools can differ; however, Cary, Crystal Lake, McHenry, and Prairie Ridge offer great school systems. Commuters will find that these towns often have the most traffic though as Rt. 31 runs directly between them. Despite the traffic, McHenry County offers plenty of job opportunities and its companies are generally always hiring. One thing to note is over a majority of their companies require a highschool diploma or GED. Furthermore, beware of the property taxes in Bull Valley as they tend to be higher than in other towns. Yet, any town in the county offers plenty of opportunities and scenery to enjoy with family.

All my life I grew in McHenry and overall I´ve always been safe, people are very sometimes very friendly while others are more job orientated. In school, I always felt safe and the staff there are very kind and encouraging. McHenry is not the perfect place as there still some changes needed such as adding more stores, malls, restaurants and etc as many people have to drive out of McHenry in order to do those things. We still need to bring the parade back as well others traditions and fix some roads as there is so much traffic around the afternoon. Schools need to become bigger as there are more kids attending McHenry schools as of right now their working on it. There still some change needed but it´s getting there.
Quiet family orientated community with low crime rate and funky night life. Everyone knows everyone! Small town feel in a city with lots to do. Nearby forest preserves with boating, fishing, city events, library and all of the necessities of life. Why pay a higher price for the same amount of fun and entertainment. Nearby bicycle trails, hiking and dancing all within a few miles. Get all up-to-date entertainment, shopping, and restaurants at a lower cost. There is even a bakery with home-made sweets. Not to mention the aroma of the coffee shops and the micro-brewery.
