Born in raised in Mariposa County. What was once mainly a retirement and cowboys area has now seen an increase in population. The young adult population is staying in the area. In regards to politics, we might still be in the red but I would say that is changing. That's just my personal opinion.
We are currently experiencing a housing shortage that has no easy solutions at this time.

I Love Mariposa County. I moved here 12 years ago from Southern California. I never have found another place I have wanted to live. The people here are like family. I consider this town as my family as there has been a lot of help that I have needed, just like many others, but this town always comes through to help thy neighbor. It is a small town so sometimes knowing everyone can be hard, but it also helps because it teaches one to learn respect whether you like someone or not since you tend to run into these people daily. You learn how to live and get a long with others well in a respectful way. It is a great place for the kids to grow up also. I love this town.
The area is enchanting in its own way. One could never get tired of the hills and the trees that populate the small community: a reflection of the fantastic nearby National Park Yosemite. There is, although, a lack of interesting things to do in the county itself besides being the entrance to the park. It sits as a humble, peaceful county that distinguishes itself with its unique beauty.
