I moved to Lafayette, La 19 years ago to attend ULL. After finishing school, I could not see myself going back home, this city is wonderful. I knew I wanted to begin the rest of my life here. Since that time, I have gotten married, had two children and began a career. The two downfalls I see in Lafayette are the public schools are terrible (and I was not raised in private schools, I believed in public schools until my children began school here) and the raising crime rate in a certain part of town. The city is build on family and friendship, you can feel the love that everyone has for the community when you are here.

If someone were to look for an area or culture that embodies the soul meaning of 'a good time,' I would ask people to look no further than Lafayette. With a plethora of festival year-round and a culture centered on neighborly kinship, there's never a shortage of memories to be had in Lafayette.
Lafayette is a peaceful, safe environment for the whole family. Lafayette has plenty of stores and restaurants. This is the city others go to because we have the grocery stores, mall, and restaurants that they do not in their community.
