Kern County is composed of the growing city of Bakersfield, and many smaller unique cities/towns that would otherwise be overlooked, but worth visiting. In Bakersfield you have the country music scene pioneered by Buck Owens and Merle Haggard, where you can visit Buck Owen's Crystal Palace on Buck Owens Blvd, and see live performances. Bakersfield is also a hub for large business chains and restaurants to experiment with the sales of new items and food with the population.

A local gem that may be overlooked by visitors, is the Kern River Valley off of Hwy 178, where activities such as river rafting, hiking, camping, and rock climbing are common and readily available throughout the outlying areas of Kernville. The Sequoia National Forest also encompasses a large area of the Kern River Valley, which is worth taking a short drive to visit.

I love living in Kern County! It is a great place to raise a family and watch your children grow up and become good citizens. Kern County also has great cities that make living in Kern County a unique experience. It gives you an opportunity to get away from the big cities and the loud noises. Overall, I have had a great childhood and adulthood experiences.
Kern County is know to others as the agriculture county as well as the place where the Crystal Palace is. This place thrives on the agriculture and the farmers who live in this area; we rely on them. Most of the people who live in this county can afford it and there aren't many homeless around; with the exception of a few cities. Overall it is a great county to live in if you are looking for an affordable place to live and if you do not have asthma/allergies.
