This is an area for history lovers. Obviously, there is Colonial Williamsburg and Jamestown Island, but history is embedded in everything here. It is a sweet reminder of how our country began.
The town is extremely family-friendly, with parks like Kidsburg and Freedom Park. There are two cinemas, and many restaurants. Monticello Ave and Richmond Road have many shops along them. There are constantly military families coming in and out of the area. Summertime can be hectic with tourists, but Busch Gardens and Jamestown Beach are an excellent place to cool down. A wonderful area!

James City County is a most pleasant area, not only because of its natural beauty, but also because of careful planning; unlike so many areas that allow growth to become too centrally concentrated, it is dispersed into pods throughout the county. And, unlike so many towns that have removed all trees and buffers right up to roadways, the county has instead preserved these areas, making the area far more livable and beautiful. Fifty to two hundred foot deep buffers are not uncommon, and this prevents blight.
Williamsburg is a great place to grow up. It's a beautiful town, lively with college students during the school year. The schools here are great and the location on the river is absolutely amazing. A very safe, family friendly environment and without a doubt an amazing place to raise a family. One of my favorite things about the location is the four seasons, hot summers and snowy winters, the flowers in the spring are beautiful and the leaves in the fall will leave you absolutely breathless. Any season is perfect for strolling down any part of the historical district. The town was built on such rich history there is always something new to learn. The only downside to living in a tourist area is, well, the tourists. Other than that such a charming place!
