I have lived in Horry County for 18 years an it's a great community, but all things have their drawbacks. Horrible traffic in the summer, too many home developments, and government positions are held by friends. Its who you know and who's your friend, thats how people get jobs in Horry County. Say in a jobs interview one person has a 4 year degree and a great amount of experience the other person is your friend with no degree and no experience. In Horry County the friend would be hired. COMPLETELY UNFAIR!
It is big enough that you don't know everyone, and there is always things to do but they all cost a lot of money. The nightlife is very college kid-centric most of the year and their are not many clubs. It is pretty safe as far as cities go with less crime then other metropolis areas. People can find jobs, if they are willing too look and the cost of living is low just try to make above minimum wage.
