Hamilton County is a wonderful place to visit and settle down in. It is affordable and is a safe place to live. The people of Hamilton County love to be helpful and are very nice. I recommend visiting because there are many things you and your family can do. Our public schools could still use some work, but they are working on making them better.
Hamilton County is a well established area. You can enjoy a nice meal in a city atmosphere, drive 5 minutes and be hiking in the mountains. The view is amazing in some parts of the county. Definitely makes driving around the area a lot more bearable.
Hamilton County is overall an amazing place to be; however, the school district sucks. Hamilton County School District is very greedy with delays and "no school" days. They only became very serious about it when students, parents, as well as teachers almost got snowed in at schools in 2013, because they did not want to let us out early.
Hamilton county is a beautiful area with mountains by the Tennessee river. There are lots of outdoor activities for the family. There are several mountain bike trails and several area parks if you like walking. There is educational venues for the family as well.
A beautiful mix of country and city. Point Park at the top of Lookout Mountain is absolutely gorgeous, the Tennessee Aquarium is a great place to take visiting family, and the whole country is surviving well through the recession thanks to new businesses that have come into the area. The public school system leaves a lot to be desired, although alternatives like Chattanooga State Community College High School are working on creating alternatives.
I love the people who live here. My hometown is energetic and I love the atmosphere. I love the mountains and the history behind my state.
The crime rate is going up and feelings of safety are going down, regardless of how many police are visible on a Friday evening on the main streets of downtown.
Chattanooga would be a utopia if it weren't for those destined to create crime and violence.
We live in a very rural area. The crime rate is low.
I have no problem with the police in Hamilton County. Crime is on the rise, but I will attribute that to the way kids are growing up now.
Although the population keeps growing steadily, it's a wonderful town over all. It's quite small and everything you need is here (aside from the pet store that I love the most!). Crime is on the rise here, but crime is on the rise just about everywhere. The people are friendly and always have a smile waiting for you! All of these wonderful things make the not-so-wonderful things easier to deal with!
The crime in the area seems to be increasing, or just being made more public than it was before.
I like living in this area. It's such a pretty place to live. Sometimes after living here a while it seems like there's not much to do, but it's definitely what you make of it. I would definitely considering living here again, but I also want to try somewhere different.
The only downside would be the driving and traffic, however trying to get around in during rush hour would be terrible anywhere, but the construction does not help.
lots of shootings every week, doesn't really seem to be getting better
lots of free stuff to do down by river park and down town, top 10% in country
Live in a rural area
