this is a very safe and friendly small town feeling community. everyone knows everyone here and is always willing to help. the county is also big into making sure families are able to get out of the house by having many parks that are well maintained with trails for walking and mountain biking, water access, soccer fields, playgrounds and other amenities. they truly like to keep their small town a small active little town.
It is an alright area to live in. It is relatively safe area and mostly peaceful, although there is not much to do. The closest thing to do is to take a trip into town which is around a forty minute commute.
Beautiful setting, great neighbors and excellent schools. A truly great place to live that is close to the river, beach and mountains. You can be in Richmond or Charlottesville in under an hour depending on where in the county you live. It is wonderful to be in the “country” but not too far away from big city amenities. The county administrators and school administrators care about the citizens and are always available to listen to concerns. The teachers care about the students too. The schools have a small town feel but with modern technology and amenities. The opportunities for students is truly impressive.
Goochland county is a small country town that has very beautiful landscapes. It is very family friendly and a cozy town where everyone know each other. The school system here is amazing and the school board is always looking to improve learning for the students with new technology and innovation.
I love Goochland because everyone knows everyone. I go to a school with the kids I've been in classes with since kindergarten. There are only three elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. This further proves my earlier statement that everyone knows everyone. Because we have such few schools, our school board works tirelessly to make sure our education is high quality. Our town feels very homey and welcoming. Parts of Goochland are very rural, while others are far more suburban. It's a good mix of the two.
This county is awesome. I absolutely love it. It is a small town feel with very naive residents who love their community.
Goochland County, Virginia is more of a family-sense community than anything else. The older generations are so supportive of the dreams, goals, and aspirations of the school-aged children. It is inspiring!
Goochland County is smaller than most counties around, but glad to be a part of it. The schools are amazing and neighbors are friendly.
Great schools but the high school has drugs. Housing is great and very nice neighborhood. Love Goochland.
Good place and environment to grow up. Great school system and amazing people. Overall, I could not imagine myself living anywhere else. In fact, once I am older I plan on starting a family here.
resident for almost . 13 years and love it. close knit community. many big families make up a major part of this community. If you don't have family members the people around you make you feel like family. great school system and proximity to urban areas.
Wonderful rural county. A lot of small family farms and equestrian centers. Unfortunately, development is starting to creep in but overall, still retains it's charm.
I have lived in goochland my entire life and love it! It's a great quiet place to live and it is gorgeous!
I have lived in Goochland my entire life and I have built relationships with so many people. At Goochland High School, I have become a leader and I am able to use my skills to make our county a better place.
Safe place to live with excellent housing options. My husband and I have lived there for 8 years, and his commute to Richmond is only 15 minutes.
Goochland is an overall safe and good place with a strong community. I have lived here for three years and have been happy where I am. I have found many volunteer opportunities as well as a good job. There is a lot of good support here as well.
Goochland county is a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of the suburbs/city, yet remain close enough to economically commute to said areas. The schools are ranked in top 10 for VA, and have a 13:1 student to teacher ratio, as well as a 96.5% graduation rate. There 3 Elementaries, 1 MS, and 1 HS. All are fully accredited. The county if mostly small farms, with pockets of small acreage subdivisions. The James River runs along the southern border and Interstate 64 runs along the northern border. It's a great place for working, playing, and living!
