My atmosphere is okay, I feel more safe by moving into this area than in the area I was in before. The ability to associate with neighbors and kids in the neighborhood is a good feeling. Back where I used to be it wasn't like that at all. Everybody just stayed to their selves but, don't get me wrong we did have our few neighbors that we held conversation with but, now its better. If I could do it all over again yes, I would most definitely choose here to be. We've been here for two years and I love it! In the future I see the area staying the same.
Review Genesee County
The crime and safety in Flint, Michigan is bad. I have heard horror stories about people waiting hours and hours for the Flint City Police to arrive.I however, live in Flint Township, which is so much better. We had a man kick our door in one morning and he was standing in our living room. My mom called 911 and the Flint Township Police was there very quickly! They even caught the guy and he is now doing time in Jackson Prison.
Here in Flint, nearly everything looks run down because people are constantly so disrespectful to their surroundings. Buildings are boarded up and abandoned on nearly every street, when pedestrians walk around they just throw their trash anywhere they see fit, or people won't clean up after their dogs when they walk them. That being said, many businesses go far out of their way to have their stores look nice/presentable for the public. Small family restaurants have great food and the wait staff is normally very pleasant to talk to.The big chain stores like Rite Aid and Walmart are well kept, normally the people working there are nice. Other places like clothing stores are pretty much all housed in the Genesee Valley Mall, which has seen better days aesthetically but is still thriving as far as business goes. All in all, there is nothing remarkable about Flint, Michigan in terms of looks, but everyone seems to be able to get what they need fairly easily. Everything around here is just "okay".
