Gaston County Reviews
I have lived in Gaston County for most of my life. While it has its fair share of flaws, it also has some great benefits. It is home to Gastonia, a city of approximately 75,000 with a diverse array of chains, local shops, and restaurants. Charlotte is conveniently located within an hour of any part of Gaston County. I would describe most of the county as very safe. While particular areas have certain issues, the county as a whole is safe. The county has great access to outdoors and recreational activities, including Crowders Mountain State Park, the US National Whitewater Center, and Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden. The county as a whole is not all that diverse, aside from the cities of Gastonia and Mount Holly. The schools are decent, though there is definitely room for improvement. If you're looking for an affordable area in the Charlotte region, Gaston County simply cannot be beaten.
I'm a homeschooled high school student, so I don't have a ton of experience. I've lived here my entire life, and I'd say it's a perfectly fine place to live. There is a range of houses and neighborhoods and quite a few shopping options. There are several colleges nearby, though maybe not in Gaston County itself, and several schools. One thing that is important to me is the good sized community of homeschoolers, with several different co-ops and groups. There are also quite a few churches of different denominations. We've never been broken into, but we have had stuff stolen out of our yard before. Over all, Gaston County is a pretty decently average, but not a bad place.
Gaston County is a very safe and family friendly place to live. I like that there are many new restaurants coming into town. I would recommend adding a few more exciting this to do, especially for teenagers and young adults.
