I would like to see more ways besides taxi's to get around. I think public transportation would be great for this town. I also think that the cost of rent is very high for this community. Unless you work for the gold mines, or have a medical job, it seems almost unreal and a struggle to have a place to live. The cost of housing should be considered for this little community. I also feel there could be more resources for college students that are struggling to get by. It seems like more stress, on top of the stress for studying everyday.

Elko has a small town feel, but has some nice shopping and entertainments. The Cowboy Poetry contest in the winter is a lot of fun and brings in a lot great people to visit our area. Growing up in the area my favorite time was the Elko County Fair that is held on Labor Day Weekend. My family and friends always had something to enter, whether it was baked goods, canned goods, art projects, sewing projects or animals, and we always had a great time.
The Elko area is a great place to live. Some say it is the middle of nowhere, but I say it is the middle of everywhere. With a 3 hour drive you can find yourself in Reno-NV, Salt Lake City-UT, Boise-ID, just to name the biggest cities. My only complaints would be that because it is a small secluded area, there are a lot of services we lack. Doctors of all fields are in high demand. We make due with what we have, and when that doesn't work we take a drive.
