I like the fact that I can live peacefully, however, the commute in the neighborhood that I live in is brutal. The nearest bus stop is 1.7 miles away. The nearest bus station is 3.7 miles away. I wish Marta would expand its bus service. As of right now, I've got to travel 2 hours plus to get to work. However, the work that's displayed on the employment search engine is all north and west out of the Atlanta area. Or far south, so they are out of reach. Unless you've got money for rideshare. You spend that on a weekly basis, you could nearly end up incapacitated. I've been south and north in Atlanta corridor and beyond and I think the environment has a whole heap to do with it. Nevertheless, it still takes away from the historical value of the train line. Marta has many more stops to make. Why can't I reach Savannah, Georgia by rail?

I lived and attended schools in Dekalb county since the 3rd grade. The schools are ok and the living areas are fantastic. You are close to the city of Atlanta and there are a lot of places near you. I attended Flat Rock Elementary, Salem middle school, and Martin Luther king high school all in Lithonia, Georgia. The Dekalb county school system gave me all the tools to be successful and a lot of resources to use. I currently live in Ellenwood Georgia (Dekalb County) and the neighborhoods are outstanding and have low crime rates. I love Dekalb county and it will always be my home.
Dekalb county is alright, it is not the best. I have been living here for 18 years with my parents. I like my neighborhood its very quiet and my neighbors are very nice to me and they help me out when needed. I love when holidays come around because the homes in my neighborhood be decked out with decorations. The main attraction I like going to sometimes is Stone Mountain park. However, it needs a lot of improvement in Dekalb County! Technology and food services needs to be upgraded in public schools. There are many pot holes in the road that needs fixing and there are no bus routes where I live to get to places like the mall.
