Moving to Dekalb county in 2005 was one of the best decisions I ever made. Just around every corner, there is a unique jewelry store, clothing boutique, specialty restaurants, museums, and or parks.
I enjoy numerous outdoor festivals. Imagine you do not have to drive eight hours away to Louisiana to attend a Mardi Gras Parade. Just head to downtown Decatur in March with a heart full of joy and mouth full of cheer. Every year there are Art, Jazz, BBQ, Blues & Bluegrass Festivals to Tree Lighting, and everything in between. DeKalb County is very progressive and in a constant state of revitalization. There is always an eat, work, and live community construction projects, new housing areas, or various beautification projects in progress. DeKalb County is known for having some of the best public schools and universities in the state. Due to the strong sense of community and togetherness, the neighborhoods are safe and have lower crime rates than nearby counties. DeKalb County is the best!

Living here for 10 years has shown me that whatever your income is, you will always find a place to stay in this county. It's very affordable to live in this area compared to other counties like Gwinnett. I live in DeKalb County and the city is Doraville and sometimes it could get sketchy because a lot of very low income families live in these apartments. The pot holes need to be fixed. Public schools are great, I personally graduated from Lakeside High School here in DeKalb. I wouldn't encourage you to walk around in the nighttime unless you are very comfortable with your neighborhood. The diversity is amazing, in my apartment building alone there are 6 different cultures. Also, very friendly to any and all sexuality and races.
I love Dekalb Co. and have spent most of my 64 years here My three adult children grew up in Dekalb County and are raising their children here as well.

I have noticed that lately their has been a lot of building apartments , condominiums, and house which means that many wildlife creatures have been run out of their natural habitats. Something most be done soon about this.
I feel we need more income bases apartments for the elderly.

My main mission in life is to build a 24 hour homeless shelter that will house single adults, families, young adults and Veterans, this transitional housing will be set up to nourish people physically, spiritually and in any ways that may enhance educational learning, inspire a mindset of self improvement and will offer resources of enlightening the mind, body and soul to soar beyond their present beliefs.
