Cumberland is the 'bom diggidy' for me. The only noise I hear is when I make some. Hell, sometimes I drop a wrench on the floor just for the sound effect. I moved from Cumberland to Fort Lauderdale Florida at age 10. I was there for 50 years, and that should be enough city life for anybody. I've been back 6 years, and the only thing that I hate about it is, I didn't move back sooner. Nice and quiet, and my house is on 45. The quiet is greatest in the evenings with the frogs croaking, the crickets chirping, and the stars shining. A nice trade off from tires squealing, sirens, and helicopters. I won't tell you that Fort Lauderdale is a good place to visit. But because of Cumberland, I will tell you that Fort Lauderdale is a great place to be from.
I love that Cumberland County is a small and quiet town. I prefer NOT having a nightlife scene. It is a wonderful place to raise a family.
There is nothing really in Cumberland, I would like to get more stuff in my county besides the fact that everything is so far away from each other, it a decent place to live
I relocated here from Richmond and I must say it is very different. It's country not city so I literally have to drive AT LEAST 15 minutes before I can even get to a gas station. On the other hand, it's quiet and peaceful with minimal distractions.
Its a great town with great people that will always help out one another. There isn't much in the town but it has enough to be happy and the surrounding counties have big stores.
This is a very small country town. I love being able to see the stars at night unfiltered by light pollution. I love being able to send my children out to play without concern of potential violence. They slow mentality took a while to get used to and there are still many older residents stuck in their ways that inhibit community growth. However schools are improving and community involvement is slowly increasing. Overall I find Cumberland a great place to raise my children.
I can honestly say I feel good about the area, I feel safe and don't often think about crime and my safety.
I love living here, all of my family lives here so it is filled with love and humility.
Since I live in the country there isn't as much crime ad there would be in a big city or areas with bigger populations. From what I see, the most crime around here is mainly speeding. Many people including myself know where to look out for cops in my area. The police hardly ever find new places to hide.
The crime generally is not bad, but there is a significant lack of lighting in areas that need it.
This area is not for everyone, as it is a very rural area, but it is very peaceful and I am glad I grew up here.
Being born in raised in this small town, I love it. Although we only have on stop light and have to drive forty-five minutes to the nearest grocery store, I would not want to live anywhere else.
This area is pretty average overall. While I am comfortable living here, I'm going to college to get out of here because I want something more.
The school system allows community members to use their workout equipment and their gym.
Bear Creek Lake is a popular State Park in this area. Also, most people live within walking distance of the James River.
Although Cartersville is too stretched out to walk very many places, most people ride bicycles.
Employment is not an issue in Cartersville, Va.
