Cumberland is the 'bom diggidy' for me. The only noise I hear is when I make some. Hell, sometimes I drop a wrench on the floor just for the sound effect. I moved from Cumberland to Fort Lauderdale Florida at age 10. I was there for 50 years, and that should be enough city life for anybody. I've been back 6 years, and the only thing that I hate about it is, I didn't move back sooner. Nice and quiet, and my house is on 45. The quiet is greatest in the evenings with the frogs croaking, the crickets chirping, and the stars shining. A nice trade off from tires squealing, sirens, and helicopters. I won't tell you that Fort Lauderdale is a good place to visit. But because of Cumberland, I will tell you that Fort Lauderdale is a great place to be from.

I relocated here from Richmond and I must say it is very different. It's country not city so I literally have to drive AT LEAST 15 minutes before I can even get to a gas station. On the other hand, it's quiet and peaceful with minimal distractions.
I love that the school system is very close to everything. They have many activities children can get involved in. There is not a lot of crime or disturbance, which is great when having young children. There are plenty of jobs available in the area, and if there's not one fit to someone, Farmville is only a few minutes away. Even though Cumberland is small, it is very diverse and offers a lot to anyone seeking a quiet, peaceful getaway.
