Cowlitz County Reviews
Rating 3.67 out of 5 3 reviews
Despite the preconceived notions and stereo types that were presented in the reactions of friends when announcing moving from Vancouver area to Cowlitz County, there is nothing but good things to say. It is a typical blue collar, small community; most families know one another in some shape or form.
Aside from the small town feel, the comradory for community plays out here; from fundraising, to standing behind our law enforcement, to our county Rodeo.
Living wise it literally an hour from anything, an hour to the coast, the mountains, or Portland. It's beautiful area, with picturesque Mt. St Helens and tons of natural beauty.

My experience with Cowlitz County has evolved over the years. Moving here as a young adult, I was narrow minded and shortsighted. As a grown adult with an adult child of my own I have learned to see the opportunities that are available in the geographical area. Residency is generally calm, and quiet. Employment opportunity is growing, and there is also the opportunity to commute to the larger city to work without having to live in the larger city. The area is beautiful, with the mountains, beach, and valleys all within short driving distance. There is a little something for everyone.
Cowlitz county has it's pros and cons; its a beautiful area with surrounding mountains, rivers, lakes and the ocean not to far away. The drug use is very high though and homeless people are on the rise.
