This Town is definitely the place to visit to see famous landmarks & also historic trademarks. This town is known for having tourist.
I have lived here for 9 years and I have really enjoyed my time here. I moved from a small city in the middle of nowhere, New Jersey. So it was really great coming to a beautiful, lively city like Charleston.
I was born and raised here and I love the city and surrounding area. It really is beautiful and there is so much history throughout the lowcountry. In the past ten years though, so many people from out of state have moved here. It is very difficult to go anywhere, and I am not able to go places or do things that I love to do, like go to the beach because it is so crowded and parking is ridiculous. It is also becoming extremely expensive to live here, and I am worried I will not be able to live in Charleston or close by in the future.
The Charleston area is so beautiful. I’m originally from Virginia and moving down to the Charleston area was a true break through. The food is phenomenal and the natives are friendly.
I love the beautiful weather, the gorgeous landscapes and the welcoming atmosphere. I have been here 8 years and plan on staying for life.
I think the roads could be better and also have more people cleaning up the streets. There are a lot of people living under bridges and begging for food and or money.
Charleston County has some of the most polite people around. We've even been voted the most polity city for last 5 yrs by travel magazines. Charleston is surrounded by so many rivers, creeks and beaches that every day is a great day here. You see dolphin swim by almost everyday when at the beach and if your lucky when boating in our rivers. Charleston is so wonderful people from the north and west are moving here to enjoy our slow lifestyle. The food in Charleston can't beat-from award winning BBQ to delicious shrimp and grits and hot biscuits fresh from the oven at several downtown restaurants. We have lots of community parks, festivals and art events. It's a fantastic place to call home.
Charleston County is very diverse. There are sections that are predominately white, predominately asian, predominately black. Due to this, everyone, no matter their race or ethnicity, will have a community in Charleston. The food culture reflects this perfectly. There are so many dining options to choose from! Many are locally owned and operated; this makes helping and giving back to the community easy. There is also a plethora of parks and green spaces so people can enjoy the outdoors. Athletic fields, gardens, and trails are all over CCSD so people can have easy access to nature. The beaches are also beautiful; there is space to sit and relax or enjoy a swim in the refreshing water.
Charleston is a very slow city, probably best for seniors. If the schools learning system was more organized then learning would be more effective. Teachers should consistently be trained to new teaching skills. Don’t just give them new books and expect them to efficiently teach our children. Business opportunities suck here and so does night life. The options are slim and few on healthy eating and Nice places to go for drinks with friends that isn’t your local ranky dank bar. It’s the people that’s makes this a nice city. The hospitality and southern charm.
Boy, has this once beautiful town changed...for the worse! 20 years ago because the people were nice, no traffic, great choice of hospitals, excellent restaurants, a terrific university, post graduate schools including a medical, dental, pharmacy and law school, beautiful beaches....everything you would want in a town! Forget it now! At one time, you could drive from one beach to another beach (Isle of palms, Sullivans, Folly, Kiawah and Seabrook) in less than 1/2 hour...now it takes more than an hour! And there was never any traffic! It was pure paradise. You could drive downtown Charleston for a casual stroll down the harbor or get a bite on King Stree..no more! Traffic and parking is a nightmare! Thank you investors, builders, developers and our town council for destroying the last paradise on earth just for more money in your pockets! I hope you can sleep at night! I am disgusted at what you turned this town into....you should all be ashamed of yourselves!
Charleston is very touristy city. I went to college here and have worked her for almost six years. The housing here is quite expensive, but old. There could be so much done to better the overall infrastructure. There are also racial and social issues here that have yet to be dealt with properly.
Traffic is bad during rush hour and on the weekends near the beach due to tourists, but otherwise it's a great place to live!
Charleston is a wonderful place to live. It is a mix of city life and small town life. There are always things to do but it still feels homey.
Charleston is a wonderful city that has that quaint southern feel. The people are extremely friendly and welcoming. Downtown is beautiful with tons of early american history to be seen. The carriage tours are a must for any history buff.
Great place to go, interesting and nice people, great food, and interesting things to do. An array of things to do for people of all ages, great tourism spots, and fun nightlife. Some areas of Charleston, although getting better, still have obvious issues.
There is crime and it isn’t the cleanest. I wish they would really clean up the area. I do like the fact we don’t pay high taxes but we should due to that goes towards police officers. More police means that crime would slow down
The Neighborhood's local restaurants are welcoming and the food is deliciously authentic southern cuisine. There are various parks that are for exercising to touring. The cities natural preservation parks are also great for outdoor activities such as biking on forest trails, swimming, canoeing, etc. Charleston's beaches are also a great place to visit with family and friends. Charleston is a destination that one will never forget.
